Our Senior Care East Toronto Team
Colin Macdonald – Managing Director
Born and raised in Toronto, Colin has first-hand knowledge of the communities which make up this great city. He holds an undergraduate from the University of Western Ontario, and a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland. Colin came to Home Instead through Bruce Mahony, who is the current Managing Director of our Central Toronto Office. With more than two decades of management experience, Colin brings new focus and fresh energy to the Toronto East office.
“Our office will remain client centric in everything we do. Value, innovation and quality will remain the principle tenets of our service model. Look to us to provide your family and loved ones with the most sincere, responsive and highest quality supportive care.”
Sonia Goncalves – Client Services Manager
Fluent in over four languages, Sonia joins our team from a hospitality background where her last role was Director of Food Services at the Glendon College campus of York University. If you are fortunate enough to work with Sonia, you will find her presence re-assuring, her sincerity genuine and her professionalism beyond reproach. Sonia was born in Setubal, Portugal and immigrated to Canada as a young girl. Her strong belief in family and an affinity for the elderly brought her to our Toronto Home Instead family. Home Instead offices in Portugal don’t know what they missed…..
Lisa Xie – Client Care Coordinator
Lisa joins our office from Aramark Canada where she held the position of Marketing Manager. Lisa is a native of Toronto, growing up in the east end where she still resides. She holds a Bachelors of Applied Business from George Brown College, and has held various roles in hospitality services before joining our team. Lisa works closely with our team of CareGivers to ensure consistent and quality care is being delivered. Lisa also helps to manage and maintain our online properties, facilitate our community workshops and is involved in the ongoing recruitment and selection of our staff.
Eva Wansi – CareGiver & Office Assistant
Eva is one of the many supportive CareGivers who work with our clients in the community. In her time working with us, Eva has also assisted in the office in the scheduling and assignment of client care but ultimately prefers to work with clients directly. It is through the professional and caring nature of staff like Eva that none of our clients are without care when they need it most.
Sheryl Sanchez – On-Call Supervisor
Sheryl supports our office after hours and on weekends by ensuring our schedule of care is maintained and any client emergencies are properly and efficient expedited. While Sheryl only dedicates her evenings and weekends to support our office, she is an integral part of our team and helps in managing the human resource aspects of our operations.
Abbey – Therapy Dog in Training
Abbey joined our team from the Toronto Animal Services Shelter on Progress Avenue. She was adopted in September 2012 at the tender age of five months. As a Rhodesian Ridgeback, Abbey comes from a very particular heritage. She is both beautiful and intelligent, and is acutely aware of the energy and behavior that others exercise around her. Our St. John’s Ambulance training continues to progress and we hope to be able to bring Abbey with us in the near future to visit with our clients and those in the institutions with whom we work
